rotten egg

"can i have some rotten egg?" is not a question i thought i'd hear from my two (almost three!) year old. but since the arrival of eggnog, we've been hearing it a lot. no matter how many times we tell him what it's really called, he still calls it rotten egg. yesterday he took me to the fridge pointed up and said, "i have some advice, i want some of that."
Anyway, yesterday adam came home early from work and took eli up into the foothills to look for snakes, bugs, salamanders, and yizzards (i'll miss that one when he can say his l's correctly). i think it was a to cold up there because they only found this cricket (it's dead) and another one that was alive. thankfully, they did not bring that one home. the dead one is now sitting on our kitchen counter (in a jar of course). i put it there last night after eli tried to have it eat dinner with us...i just could not sit and watch that thing while i ate! here are a few pics of their trip...
this is a picture only a dad could take, i just imagine him tumbling down those rocks...

i got to spend some quality time with lyla. we sang some patty cake, played and smiled a lot. obviously i don't get to do that as much with her as i did with eli, so it is tons of fun. she is so smiley:) yesterday morning i thought her ears were bothering her again, but she seemed a lot better last night. maybe there is just some fluid in her ear causing pain. but we had a really good time last night. i can't wait until she's a bit bigger, she's going to be a hoot:)
