the drive

we made the drive from boise to la last week. 17 hours of car riding bliss. the kids did amazing. really, AMAZING. eli did not complain even one time. lyla cried a few times but mostly because she was tired (and an hour before we left for la i took her to the dr. - you guessed it....another ear infection). and when i say "cried" it was only a little and she was easily calmed.

we left boise at about 6 in the evening and drove all night. eli did not go to sleep until around 10:30, three hours after his normal bedtime. i was driving along at 3:30 am and hear a little voice from the backseat, "aren't those mountains beautiful, mama?" (my headlights were shining on the hills next to us). "yes they are. it's still night time so go back to sleep." i told him. a few minutes later, "look at those tall trees!" and then he was up until 6:30 am. just watching a movie and hanging out...in the middle of the night. but he was not complaining and being good so it wasn't any trouble.

overall, it was an extremely successful car trip:)
