closed

we signed the house papers yesterday and are officially unhomeowners. so very bittersweet. more sweet than bitter at this point, but bitter none the less. our family really grew there. two became three, three became four. we moved in when i was 6 months along with eli...

from the trunk

to celebrate the birthday of our daddy/hubby, we brought cake and his gift to work. the kids were so cute waiting with anticipation for dadum to round the corner of the van so we could sing to him.

eli was pretending to eat the cake...which was cracking his sister up.

the decorated gift...we got him The Complete Works of Flavius Josephus, printed in 1853. it's pretty sweet. and he loved it:)

my sweet family

happy birthday baby! i love you. so. much.

wrap em' up

eli and lyla came out of their room yesterday with their bears (named "bear" and "bear") all wrapped up in their blankets. it was so cute seeing the two scuffling down the hall, coming to show me their handy work.

destination: lucky peak

you should see this boy cast, he looks like a pro (or at least a person who knows how to fish).

our 3 hour camp site...

a while back adam's dad and step mom gave us this awesome kayak. we were able to take it out for the first time. it was really fun and easy to paddle. thanks grandpa scott and grandma ellen!

gross

i went to get the camera so i could take a picture of lyla, who was fascinated with this dead mouse. as i left i said, "don't touch it, it's gross." when i came back...

repeat father's day

on father's day we braved the weather and went for a hike at mores mountain. while we were there i realized we did the same hike last year for father's day. the weather was much the same. cloudy, cool and breezy...only this time thunder, lightning and rain decided to join us. we did get wet, but i think that made it more fun.

the kids...and eli, i begged him to hold still for a second to take his pic, thus the pursed lips.
goofy kids
the hikers
brian and adam rode from the bogus to our house. they both said it was the most beautiful trail they had been on...

the plan was to hike and have a picnic dinner, but the rain had other plans. so we all headed back to my (parents) house to eat. the kids had a BLAST playing. i love this group of kids.

mom and dad, ignore the HUGE bean bag that now resides in your living room, it will be gone when you get home.

the wieber girls stayed late, waiting for brian and adam to return from their ride. they wrestled, jumped on the bean bag, and wrestled some more. here they are pose jumping onto the bean bag...

what a great father's day!

dad's day weekend

this weekend we made up for being sick last week. on friday we met the hills at franz witte nursery for a bbq and live music.
luke, julia and lyla raiding the drink cooler...and the aftermath...lyla clung to this diet coke all evening. she would take a drink, put it in the cup holder, remove it promptly from the cup holder and say, "a yittle bit more. be careful."

saturday we went back to the nursery to plat a tree for dadam.

eli and lyla planting their trees...

on father's day we went on a fun (and wet) hike with friends...will post soon.

emmitt knows how to party

we went to emmitt today to visit their cherry festival. we've been there for apple picking in the fall, but never for cherry season. we didn't actually pick any cherries, but did consume them and rode carnival rides in there honor.

we went with some new friends from california, garrett and johnna, who visited our church last sunday. they have an 8 year old, julia, and a 4 year old, james. here they are enjoying a little wind in their hair...

love this one...

this was soooo cool. eli waiting for a turn...

getting in and blowing it up...

living a hamsters life...and lovin' it.

such fun!

teeth and popcicles

nothing super stupendous is going on here...thus the lack of posting. for the last week or so either eli, lyla or i have been sick, which is why we've been so lame lately. doing nothing rubs me the wrong way. i'm ready to get some fun on.

eli had his "surgery" yesterday. because he is so young, he has to go under for dental work. this means the whole shabang is done in an operating room at the hospital. he got 3 caps and 1 filling. for a grand total of 5 silver teeth and several white fillings (so, so, SO thankful they are all in the back). the dentist said we should be out of the woods because every tooth is filled or has a cap. she was encouraging and said his "oral health looks wonderful", meaning his gums and brushing look good...and they should, we work hard on that. i'm hoping and praying that his adult teeth are stronger than his baby ones.

lyla is just being super cute. her mommy skills are ever growing. this evening while eating popsicles, eli dared bring his into the living room. lyla bellowed, "eli! eat that outside!!!" that's my girl.

first day in pigtails

i've been trying to get lyla to let me put her hair up for a looooooong time. she always refuses. when she saw the ponytail i was sporting, she said, "my ponytail?" i asked if she wanted one. head nod "yes." i asked if she wanted two, a more vigorous (and serious) head nod. she wore them all day and loved it. i did too.

sad lyla

this is lyla's "pitiful" face. she's been wearing it a lot lately. last night at dinner she asked for more macaroni, which was gone. when she heard the news she took it pretty hard. calling her reaction "crying" doesn't do it justice, it was pathetic-big tears-lip out-hands over the face crying.

i'm trying to be patient with her because she's had a difficult week. for the first few days after moving in with my parents (in a non looserish kind of way) she was crying a lot and asking to go "home." when we would pull up to our temporary residence she would cry and say, "no like papa's house! no like papa's house!" it was really sad, i felt for her. while i'm so grateful to have a place to live, i miss "home" too.

s'more please

greg was a hero for building a s'mores fire...

is this awesome or what?

such a cute pic of suz and zoe

this is one of my favorite shots of the weekend...i love how zoe and lyla are looking at the boys, most likely thinking, "what are you doing!?!"

the lake

have i mentioned that these boys are two peas in a pod? they played constantly for three days with only one "cooling off" period of about five minutes, it was awesome.

kristin and julia - and lyla taking a walk on the dock
me and kristin

the house that we stayed at was right across the street from the lake, so it was just a quick walk down to the water. it was a sweet spot. thanks hills!
