first catch

adam, my dad and eli went fishing the other day and eli caught his first fish! when he came home this is how the conversation went...

eli: I caught a big fish!

me: You did!?! You caught a big fish!?! (just imagine my enthusiasm)

big fish stories obviously start young, but he almost immediately admitted...

eli: no, it was little

he was still very proud, as were we.

choppin' broccoli

one of my favorite SNL skits was dana carvey's "choppin' broccoli." it was back in the day when some skits were actually funny and not horribly crude...what a concept. every time i'm cutting up broccoli for dinner i hear him in my head. if you haven't seen it, you should go to utube and view the live version.

anyway, all that said because we're enjoying the first fruits of our garden...broccoli! it is sooo much better than the kind in the store. we've also planted a few different kinds of tomatoes, bell peppers (for fajitas...yum!), giant pumpkins (for halloween), strawberries, corn (which is not doing so well, not sure why) squash, cilantro and basil. i wish we had more garden space...

chloe

we went to the park the other day with chole, one of eli's oldest friends. they've known each other since before they were born. she is such a sweet girl...

so blessed

yesterday was baby girl jennings shower. my friend stephanie threw it, with the help of some other friends - jenny, rachel, jonie, jen, chelsea, miranda and my mom. thank you ladies, you rock! i went away from the shower thinking, "wow, i have some great friends." not that I didn't already know that, but when you see that people are willing to put themselves out for you, to cook, decorate, plan and organize an event just for you, it is a good feeling. it was a great time of fellowship and celebrating our new daughter. but the bummer? NO PICTURES. i totally forgot to get the camera out, so it will just have to live on in my memory - i guess that's not so bad, i have some great memories.

baseball

we took eli to his first "real" baseball game last night (we have some kind of semi-pro team here). we thought he would not last long and only want to eat the food, but he actually did quite well. we stayed for about an hour and a half, then it was past his bedtime and he wanted to go to sleep...music to a mothers ears!!!

rocks...

when jesse and molly were here we went down to throw rocks in the river, which for boys seems to be endless fun. not really sure why, but i think they could do it all day, guess that's why i'm a girl.
molly and hailey

such fun...

for once, hailey did not want her picture taken.

on the boat...

my brother and his family are here for a visit. my nephew, shane, is four and my niece, hailey, just turned one. my parents rented a pontoon boat and we had a nice afternoon on the lake.

adam caught a nice size bass. eli was so very excited but still did not want to get close to the fish. to get him to take a picture daddy had to be between the two.

jesse's fishing adventure was not quite a success. could have been the snoopy fishing pole.

one of the sweetest faces i know...

snively hot springs

we went to snively hot springs in oregon sunday. eli LOVED it. the water was nice and deep enough for him to "swim" with his new floating device (which he also loved).
