adam went ice fishing today and caught a bunch of trout. right now eli and lyla are in the kitchen watching him fillet them...this is what i'm hearing...
eli - mom! you haveto come see this! - i would never touch anything like that - i can't wait to see what's in there! (talking about the stomach)
we made the drive out to kuna today to go tovogel farms. it is a small family farm that sells all natural, grass and grain fed, antibiotic and hormone free beef, pork and chicken. the best part is that it's all at a reasonable price. since we were already out that way (and it was sunny out there!) we went to swan falls. the kids had a good time romping the grounds. it was a really beautiful day, i just can't believe it's january.
lyla found a rock she could climb. she was sighing, huffing and puffing as she scaled the face. so proud.
grandma and papa
ooooo, i love these
eli brought his gun so he could "shoot a bird, a goose or maybe a deer." he told lyla all about it on the way. she was so interested, responding with an enthusiastic "yeah!"
my favorite shot of the day...
lyla multitasking - sucking on a sucker and her pacifier at the same time. i tell you, my kids have talent.
the drive out to swan falls is nothing but a bunch of nothing...but it's so beautiful. i guess it's beauty in simplicity.
adam is shaping a surfboard out of wood. eli helped him out with a little sanding the other day. hopefully someday soon it will be glassed and hanging on our wall.
lyla uses this stroller as her mobile chair...i'm in the kitchen cooking, she just rolls it on in and sits with me. eli's watching a show and needs some company? push it into the living room. how handy. here she is trying to share her seat with her doll and giving me her silly look.
the last few days we've had some awesome warm weather for this time of the year. it's been in the 50's, but windy. we thought we should take advantage of it with a hike at camel's back...where we were almost got blown away. it was not so warm with the crazy wind. the kids had fun though...
lyla got a new bed this week. she seems to like it:)
this just cracks me up, eli pretend sleeping and sucking his thumb...he was a pacifier baby, not a thumb sucker. but apparently, that's what people do when they sleep.
i just said, "boy, put on your pajamas!" a little flustered after asking him twice. he said, " that's not how you ask. you say, eli, please put on your pajamas...or, lightening boy, please put on you're pajamas."
eli has a million strong points, but drawing happens to not be one of them. he usually refuses to even try to draw anything. but the other day, he drew this person. we had to take a picture to mark this momentous occasion. I love how the arms are coming out of his nose, how picasso of him.
yes, i'm still posting about our trip... julia, isabelle and lyla...such sweeties!
eli, julia and ben. these three had such a blast wrestling at grandmas/pa hobbs house. eli got taken down by ben in what looked like a superfly pro move...it was rad.
you can't superly (yes, i made that word up) tell in this picture, but lyla reminds me so much of julia. i've had some other family comment on this also. lyla's a lucky girl, because julia's a cutie:)
my brothers backyard rivals disneyland...okay, maybe that's an overstatement, but it is really fun. here's some lively times on the trampoline... shane...this captures him perfectly (except he also has a super sweet side:)
hailey...
the wild gang
lyla and molly, my fantastic sister in law and fabulous hostess
we had a wonderful Christmas with our families. we spent Christmas eve at adam's grandparents house. it was fun to catch up with with his family. many of his cousins and their wives were there, along with his aunts and uncles, his sister and her family, his grandparents and his mom.
jake and eli had an ultimate duel. the end of the fighting came when eli did a flying kick, which was him running down the hall, jumping and side kicking with both feet, then landing on his side on the ground. i missed it, but the cousins said it was quite the move.
here are the cousins
eli and lyla with great grandpa clyde
on Christmas day we had breakfast and opened presents with adam's dad and ellen. here is grandpa scott giving eli a hug after receiving a gift from us...
eli and cousin jake
we were then off to my grandma/pa hobb's house for presents with my family. it is always crazy there, and a lot of fun. i really enjoyed visiting with my cousins and family.
haily and lyla enjoying there new kitchen accessories...thanks aunt twylla!
eli got a knight set from my grandma, it was the hit of the day (and week). the kids played with that set all day for 2 or 3 days. here elidesplays the sward and ax. lyla is sporting the sweater and gloves grandma hobb gave her.
shane, clark, eli and isabelle. notice isabelle holding the ax, ready to chop.
papa with lyla and her new swimming doll, which totally freaks her out. i put it in the tub and she says, "nooooo, nooooooo," as she pushes it away. i'll have to try again when she's a little older.
and lastly, a few days later we opened gifts and jesse's house. hailey got a robe from my parents...lyla liked it too.
