driving in the car

that is going to be a new column in the jennings blog. it seems many of the awesome, thoughtful, funny things that are said in our family are said in the car.

i was about to inform him (again) that we probably won't have any more babies, when he interrupted, "you know what i want to name him? teeth of power."

16.5 hours of car riding bliss

eli could be heard numerous times..."i don't want to go away from shane's house!" me neither :(

twice lyla said, "sleeeeeeeep, sleeeeeeeep.....night, night." which was her asking us to turn off the dvd player so she could get some rest. music to our ears.

Great trip...miss the fam already.

going home...

...is bittersweet. i'm looking forward to seeing friends, sleeping in my own bed, and being in our own home. but (and it's a big but) i'm loving being with our family. i love my niece and nephew and how they and eli play, and even fight, like siblings. i live my brother and sister in law and the comfort family brings. and the warm sun. it's really nice.
we're driving home tonight. so if you think about it, please pray for safty for our little fam.

so polite

tonight in her bath lyla was trying to "swim." there was a plethora of toys floating about when she started saying, "cuse me, cuse me," while waving them aside with a flick of her wrist. so cute.

fun park

we were able to have lunch with my great aunt and uncle (helen and harry) and their family. it was nice to catch up with them and see how the kids have grown. before lunch we went to this really cool park right across the street from their house. the kids had a grand time.

cookin'

lyla got a new kitchen and loves it. she's been cooking away and feeding us well.

la jolla

la jolla...ahhhh. just writing the words makes me happy. i love it there. we went out to lunch with tommy and lenore and then for a walk at the cove. eli had fun chasing seagulls...and daddy. lyla did not do so well. she as yet another ear infection. that has made the trip a little difficult. she is on antibiotics and hopefully on the mend.

we also went out to dinner with our good friends corrie and mike. during dinner corrie asked me, "did you guys really leave? it feels like you never left." yes, we did, almost five years ago. that's what's great about good friends, you pick up where you left off. it was great seeing all of you!
