adam’s happy birthday

we celebrated adam’s 33rd (awesome)  year of  life a few days ago.  here he’s cutting his cake with a gift from mr. wieber…i ask the gift giver what the purpose of the sword/knife is.  he said in case a cougar gets in the house or a zombie apocalypse. oh. makes sense.  i'm glad we got that settled:)

we took part in the main street mile.  by “we” i mean adam and i chaperoned the kiddos in the ice cream truck race.

we had beautiful weather the whole time jesse’s family was here.  there was only one really hot day, which we spent on lucky peak.

we visited the capitol with the camps.  here are the kiddos taking a break at the lower floor looking up at the rotunda.  can you feel the love?

jesse and his fam came to boise this week.  we’ve been busy biking, boating, touring and eating.  our first venture was to the botanical garden, aka the mechanical garden (thanks for that eli:).

the gardens were beautiful.  i can’t believe how much they have done there in the last few years.  it’s a pretty place to play and explore.

connections

today eli asked when he was born.
i spouted off his date of birth.
his eyes got big and then he said with excitement…
“hey! THAT’S MY BIRTHDAY!!!”
i guess somethings need more explanation that one would think.

say what?

tonight at dinner eli was picking out all of the chicken from the stir fry but leaving the veggies on his plate.  he requested more chicken and was told that when he ate his veggies he could have more chicken.  he said, “how come i'm the only one in our family that doesn’t like vegetables?!?…i know!  i'm a meat-ch-tarian!”

art and writing

the kids have been prolific in their art these last few months.  eli is really excited about reading and writing and has been working it into his art.  the picture below is the first time he tried to  phonetically spell something out.  “to isaac,” it says.  it was a card for one of his best buds.

he also has been making his own pokemon cards….

this is one of my favorites, i love the heart person (it’s me!) and her flowers are beautiful.

and the last first, the first time lyla wrote her name c.l.e.a.r.l.y.  the happy person next to it is also pretty cute:) it know this stuff is not super exciting for most people.  but for a mama it’s pretty special.
