bits and pieces

these are some random shots of our weekend. this first one is lyla eating carrots for the first time. she made this face (and did the full body spasms like when you taste something sour) with every spoonful. the funny thing was that she kept eagerly eating. crazy girl.

i know, i know...who doesn't have a picture of themselves in the tub with a mohawk as a kid? but it's so cute, and he has this "kid look" on his face...i love it.

this really cracks me up...she's drinking out of a sippy cup! she's also drinking out of my camelback water bottle, that's her favorite. she sees that bottle and lunges for it. check out her grip...she takes her water very seriously.

cold chillin' with dad. she's so cute, he's so in trouble...

church

i told eli we were going to go to a new church tomorrow.
"where?" he asked.
"Heritage Church." i told him
then he asked, "am i going to get my hair done?"

i was stumped, it took me a second, but then it became clear..."HAIRitage Church"

i haven't been able to get many good pictures of him lately. he hides behind things and makes silly faces...such a little boy. but i loved this...just hanging out eating a pop tart with his sister (you can't really see it but he has his arm around her).

lyla, on the other hand, is super easy to photograph. mostly because of her lack of mobility:) but she also loves the camera...i think it's the little orange depth preceptor light that fascinates her:)

dinner

the porterfields came over for dinner last night. lucky, feyamita and eli had fun rough housing and punching each other with "hulk smash hands." we had a nice visit nice:)

zoe and lyla had a naked baby photo shoot. no, zoe did not grow a third hand, she was just borrowing lyla's hand for a few chomps (and later her toes:)

i don't think so

this morning lyla and i were just waking up when eli came into our bedroom. he climbed up on my bed and said, "i can't wait to grow three babies...three yiwas, in your tummy." i asked him why and he said because he likes her. then, out of the blue, he said, "i love you mommy." i don't think he has ever said that to me without me saying it first...i guess someone woke up on the right side of the bed.

lucky duck

here's shane (my nephew) with his 630 smackers! my brothers in-laws and friends have a football pool and shane won! jesse said he had to take a break while filling out the card because his arm got tired:) he says, "i'm going to disneyland!!!" congrats shane!!!

as long as i'm on the topic of shane...yesterday we were looking at some pictures when eli saw one of shane and said, "he's a nice fella."

so loved

"i love you sweetie-pie" me to eli
"i love you sweetie-mommy" eli to me:)

the english language

is so hard. eli just asked me if i was making "chops pork" for dinner. but he is making some verbal progress, yesterday he said "excited" instead of the normal "excigig," which was a personal favorite of mine...i guess progress has it's price.

claustrophobia anyone?

the other day i was feeling claustrophobic and said to adam, "i think i have claustrophobia." eli said, "i want some! i want some! i want some!!!" i looked at him confused, then he got a hold of himself and said, "can i have some please?" "some of what?" i asked. "can i have some claustrophobia?" he replied. that was followed by laughter, a lot of laughter...to the point of tears. he was so concerned that i had some tasty claustrophobia and was not sharing it with him.

headlamps

a while back adam was wearing his o-so-attractive headlamp:) eli said, "i wish i had one of those." so my parents got him one for Christmas. they were wearing them to bbq in the dark last night. even lyla got in on the action. notice eli's "bear paw" he found while i was cleaning out lyla's sock drawer. they are socks that make babies feet look like little monster feet. he wore them on his hands all night clawing and growling. adam thought this was hilarious, using a girls sock to be a vicious creature...and pink nonetheless.

i'm so glad

this morning eli said...
- i'm glad we have a baby.
-you are? i asked
-i'm sooooo glad we have a baby.

I'm so glad he's so glad we have a baby. i was just telling adam last night that he seems a little less sad these last few days. maybe he's adjusting? I hope so.
