i came across this Ravi Zacharias quote today -
"The ultimate test of any civilization is what we do with our children."
how true this is!

happy easter!!!

we had eli's first egg dying experience yesterday. he had a great time but never understood the fragility of eggs...there may have been one that wasn't cracked.

the gang - minus 2:( after dying the eggs we had dinner and an egg hunt at my mom and dads house.

a fun evening...

last night when eli was taking a bath i asked him what he thought his baby sister would look like. without a pause he said simply, "a person." what else would it look like?
later that night when we were reading before bed he felt the baby kicking. he would laugh and say, "AGAIN!" it was so sweet!

the boys

here are some shots of our dinner with adam's dad and ellen, julie, berry and jake. it was great to see them. the boys had fun being boys.

jake loves cameras...mostly he likes to take pictures, but he is also quite the poser.

disneyland

we went to disneyland this trip. this was eli's first roller coaster ride. adam said that after the first drop eli looked up at him, hair pined back, with a huge smile on his face. when he got off he ran up to me yelling, "that was SO fun!!!" it was funny to see a two year old amped on adrenaline.

we wanted to get a family picture with "Disneyland" behind us, but by the time we got around to it, it was dark and this was all we could find:)

he's still learning how to smile for the camera...

strong boys!!!

california...

we went to so cal to visit family and friends last week. eli has become quite the little traveler. he was happy to watch his dvds, eat a granola bar (plus my chips) and drink a diet coke...

we went on a field trip to the museum of natural history with shane's class. the second shot is of shane and his friends, i thought it was so cute.

so exciting:)

this morning before our doctors appointment i told eli that we were going to find out if we were having a boy or a girl. he said "girl," nodding knowingly. going back to when we first told him we were having a baby (i was only 5 weeks along) he said, "i have baby sister." we told him it could be a boy he said, "noooooooo, it's a girl." here she is...

i love ultrasounds. it is truly amazing to see that little squirming, kicking, heart racing baby that is just sitting there in your belly.

this is the ultrasound where they have to do all of the measuring, making sure everything looks "normal." so it takes about a half an hour and they don't tell you the sex until the end. when she finally told us, i cried, then she cried. adam just laughed. it was such a great moment.
