vap-a-tizing

we're still church hunting...i told eli we were going to a Baptist Church, he asked if we were going to take a bath:) then in the service a little girl got baptized, which eli thought was "werery cool." later we heard a lot about "vap-a-tizing."

62 degrees!!!

whaooooooo! this was the warmest day we've had this year...soooo nice to be outside and not be cold:) we took the fam for a walk in the foothills and then to the park for a bit.

eli did not want his picture taken...again. but lyla, she's always up for a photo shoot:)

see what i mean...

he finally warmed up once we got to the swings. he loves swings.

on the way home it was raining a bit...how beautiful is this?

heaven

i normally keep this blog a deep thought free zone. i want to look back on it years from now and remember the happy fun times, not necessary the struggles and complicated ones. but this is something i always want to remember.
it's from the book Heaven by randy alcorn. he is explaining time and if there will be time in Heaven. he writes, "when we say good-bye in Heaven, we'll know people won't die before we see them next. time will no longer be and hourglass in which the sands go from a limited past to a limited future. our future will be unlimited. we'll no longer have to "number our days" (Psalm 90:12) or redeem the time, for time won't be a diminishing resource about to end."
he then quotes Henry Berkhof who says, "time is the mould of our created human existence. Sin led to the fact that we have no time, and that we spend a hurried existence between past and future. but the consummation as the glorification of existence will not mean that we are taken out of time and delivered from time, but that time as the form of our glorified existence will also be fulfilled and glorified. consummation means to live again in the succession of past, present, and future, but in such a way that the past moves along with us as a blessing and the future radiates through the present so that we strive without restlessness and rest with out idleness, and so that, though always progressing, we are always at our destination."
what a great day that will be:)

a lot late

i should have taken a picture of these before they started to fade. tulips (my fav) from my man for valentines. so pretty.

proud

i came home from the grocery store this afternoon and eli asked what i bought. i ran down the list and told him a majority of the items. he said, "i'm so proud of you mama." it's nice to be appreciated.

lyla

she has had a very upset last few days with little sleep at night. so yesterday we had to take her to the immediate care clinic because it was Sunday, so her doctor was closed. she had another double ear infection. she got on antibiotics and seems to be doing much better.
we had her 6 month appointment today (a little late). she is in the 95th percentile in height, 45th in weight and still 50th for head size. i never thought i would have a child below the norm in weight. i was HUGE when i was little...i should scan some pictures from when i was a baby and post them sometime. anyway, she is developmentally on track which is always nice to hear.
this is a picture of her with a toy that her great grandparents sent her. it is a blow up toy with balls in side and little windows to see in. she absolutely adores it and loves to look at you through the tube.

happy and sad

this weekend eli was playing his little piano with the accompaniment of lyla singling/screeching. he turned it on the organ setting and played s-l-o-w-l-y. Putting a frown on his face he hung his head and said, "this is sad music." it was hilarious. how does he know that is sad music!?! he cracks me up. here he is being "mean."

mistake

giving lyla some of eli's applesauce...big mistake. now she won't eat her green beans or squash. i'm really hoping it is because she is sick, but i think it was the applesauce. right now she is coveting his popsicle...how does she know that tastes good?

c'mon spring!

we had a few days this week where we could comfortably be outside. on this particular day we went on a walk on the greenbelt with my parents. throwing rocks into the lake is always a hit (ha ha) but throwing them on a partially frozen lake is even more fun (at least for me:).

i LOVE this picture, mostly because you can see her little legs and arms. that is another bummer about winter (besides being stuck inside all the time) they have to be all covered in clothes to keep warm.

big guy...

eli is spending the night with my parents for the first time. i have never in all of his 3 years spent a night away from him. it is bittersweet. tomorrow he'll be going off to college:(

you never really know

what kids are thinking. they could be sitting there in the backseat of your car, staring out the window and you think they're just enjoying the view when they say, "cats can't talk...i can talk...but dogs and cats can't talk." this was more than a statement and less than a question...i think he was hoping for an answer that he knew was not coming. it would be cool if cats and dogs could talk.

globe

nothing super exciting these days...just living the life:) eli went to the dentist this morning and did FANTASTIC. he let the lady brush and floss! if you know eli at all, you know this is practically a miracle. this afternoon he said, "i love the dentist!" i'm in shock.

lyla is doing well today, yesterday was another story:( i mentioned earlier that she was drinking out of a sippy cup straw, well, she's now mastered a regular straw. i don't know what it is about it, but it is just so cute to see her sittin' there gulping from a cup.

that's about the excitment of winter in Boise:) at least until the kids are old enough to go snowboarding..can't wait for that.

this is a cool picture adam took the other morning. eli loves to look at the light up globe while eating breakfast. adam did this one time and it became tradition immediatly. while i got to sleep in (felt so good!) they ate and learned where jesse, molly, shane and hailey live...to far away:(
